Honda CB550 Cafe Racer wall hanger

The story with this now art piece is that it was a bike I built for myself around 2015.  It was featured on the cover of Cafe Racer Magazine, Motul booth at Long Beach Grand Prix, Joe Rocket ad, Pipeburn online and shown and won several awards over the year.  Then a customer wanted to buy it but did not like the paint job, so I painted another set of bodywork and sold him the bike. This bodywork was kicking around the shop for a few years before I got the crazy idea to turn it into a wall hanger art piece.

I started by cutting a CB550 frame in half and welded plates on for hanging, hooped the frame and mounted the seat.  Then I had the frame powder coated gloss black along with the triple trees. Chopped some forks down, used Joker Machine stem nut,  fork tops, clutch ever and throttle, some chrome Lossa clubman bars, Biltwell grips, black headlight ears and an Arlen Ness headlight cover. Installed the control cables and made the throttle with a return spring so it feels like it is a working throttle when you twist it.  Original plan was to light the headlight and tail light but I never got around to it.

Plus, this year I slapped it on another 550 that was here and we rode it in the 2022 Distinguished Gentleman's ride in Los Angeles.

NOTE: Another fun fact is that Honda in Japan had seen this bike somewhere and sent me a cease and desist letter because of our logo's I combined.  I was doing a bunch of projects for Honda North America at the time so all was worked out without having to go to court!

Cash to create this art was $4332, not including the cost of all the Honda parts and actual labor!! Yeah, its a lot of money, yes, I am dumb for doing it! But look at it, no one will ever have anything like this!! Plus the bike is kinda famous!
